Title: Blessed Assurance

Primary Text: Hebrews 10:19-23

1. When you walk into a room where you don't know many people, are you usually the first to introduce yourself, or do you wait for someone to approach you?

2. When have you felt like you didn't belong somewhere? Did anything help you move from feeling like an outsider to feeling at home? If not, what would have helped?

3. What stood out to you most from this week's message, "Journey in Song: Blessed Assurance?" What story, idea, image, or particular line from the hymn did you want to discuss?

4. Read Hebrews 10:19-23. What do you notice about the way the writer describes humanity's relationship with God? What are we invited to do?

5. What do you think it means to "approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith?" What does the word "assurance" mean to you in this context? How might this concept speak to our sense of belonging with God?

6. How might knowing that we are welcomed into God's presence change the way we see ourselves and the way we welcome others?

7. Read Romans 8:14-17. What does it mean to be "children of God?" What effect does a "spirit of adoption" have on our relationship with God? What are the fruits of such a relationship?

8. Read Ephesians 2:13-22. What does this passage say about what Christ does to the divisions between people? If we are "built together," what's our role in the community? What does it look like for church to be a place where people know they truly belong?

9. Where might you have an opportunity this week to offer someone else assurance of welcome, inclusion or belonging?

10. Where in your life do you most need to be reminded that you belong, with God or within a group or community? How could others pray for you?
