Title: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Text: Luke 10:25-37

1. When you think back to your childhood, what is one moment when you realized the world was more complicated than you had previously thought? How did you begin to make sense of that experience?

2. Growing up, what helped shape the way you learned to tell the difference between what felt "right," what felt "fair," and what was actually happening around you?

3. What image, phrase, or story from the message "Unbound: To Kill a Mockingbird" stayed with you? What did it make you want to talk more about?

4. Read Luke 10:25-37 aloud. As you hear this story again, what do you notice about who sees the wounded man and who chooses not to see him? Have you ever felt that tension within yourself?

5. In this parable, what do you think makes it difficult for the priest and Levite to respond differently? What pressures, fears, or assumptions might be shaping their choices? Can you relate?

6. What do you think Jesus is shifting when he turns the question from "Who is my neighbor?" into a story about what it looks like to be a neighbor? What changes when the question is no longer about obligation, but about responsibility toward others?

7. Read Romans 12:9-13 aloud. What stands out to you about the kinds of actions this passage connects to love, especially in how people are treated, welcomed, and cared for?

8. Read James 4:17 aloud. What might this passage say to situations where we recognize something is wrong but still choose not to respond? What helps a person find the courage to act, even when it might come with a cost?

9. Where in your life this week might you need to pay closer attention to what is happening around you and respond more intentionally than you normally might?

10. How might your group pray for you this week as you seek courage, clarity, or faithfulness in how you respond to what you see?
