Series: Affirming: What We Believe and Why It Matters

Text: Matthew 28:16-20

1. Are you someone who naturally prefers doing things independently, or do you usually feel energized by being part of a group or team?

2. Either way, can you think of a community, team, church, or group that made you feel like you truly belonged? What made that experience meaningful?

3. What image, phrase, or story from the message "Affirming: Church" stayed with you? What did it make you want to discuss?

4. Read Matthew 28:16-20 aloud. What does Jesus send his followers into the world to do? How is that mission relevant to the church today?

5. Which parts of Jesus' commission feel inspiring to you, and which parts feel challenging or intimidating in terms of your own practice of faith?

6. Read Acts 2:42-47 aloud. How does this early church function? What are the foundational practices of the community? Which parts of this picture feel compelling to you? Which seems difficult to imagine or practice?

7. What do you think people most deeply need from a faith community today? Can those needs be met at a place like Morning Star?

8. Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 aloud. What analogy does Paul use to describe the church? What does this suggest about belonging, responsibility, and the value of each person in the life of the church? Have you ever attended a church like that? What made it so?

9. If we truly affirm the church as more than a building or weekly event, how would you describe it? What difference can such a community make in the world?

10. How might your group pray for you this week as you seek to live as an active part of Christ's church?
