Text: Luke 22:54-62
1. When you're having a rough day, what's your go-to comfort: a show, a snack, a song, a walk, a prayer, or something else?
2. We often use the word depression to describe many different experiences. How do you understand the difference between feeling deeply sad because of life circumstances and experiencing something that feels heavier or longer-lasting?
3. What stood out to you in the message titled Good Grief: Depression? Did an image or idea feel especially honest, helpful or challenging? What did you want to discuss?
4. Read Luke 22:54-62. As you listen to this passage, what details catch your attention: Peter's actions, the setting, the silence, his emotional response?
5. The text says Peter "wept bitterly." What do you imagine is happening inside him at that moment? What feelings or realizations might be colliding there?
6. Seasons of deep sadness can include shame, exhaustion, withdrawal, even a sense of failure. Where do you see echoes of those experiences in Peter's story?
7. Read Psalm 88:1-8, 18. This psalm does not resolve neatly or move quickly toward hope. How does its honesty help create space for people who are still in the middle of darkness?
8. Read Romans 8:38-39. How might this passage speak to times when people feel disconnected, discouraged or weighed down? What kind of assurance does it offer without minimizing pain?
9. When emotional heaviness lingers, whether because of grief, loss, stress, or mental health challenges, what helps people stay connected to care, community and hope?
