1. When you feel afraid or overwhelmed, what's one instinctive response you notice in yourself: Fight? Flight? Freeze? Pray? Strategize? Something else?

2. Who is someone you've admired for their courage in dangerous or uncertain circumstances? What about their courage stands out to you?

3. What stood out to you in the message titled Read That Again: Faith Underground? How does learning more about Harriet Tubman inform the way you hear the scripture passage from Exodus or understand faith?

4. Read Exodus 14:10-14. What emotions do you hear in the people's response to danger? What words or images stand out to you at this moment at the edge of the sea?

5. Moses tells the people to stand firm and trust God even when escape seems impossible. In what areas of your own life might you be hearing a similar invitation?

6. Harriet Tubman trusted God's guidance in literal life-and-death situations and acted on that faith repeatedly. How does her story challenge or affirm your understanding of what faithful trust looks like?

7. Read Psalm 27:1-3. How does this psalm echo the courage and confidence expressed in Exodus? What kind of fear does faith confront here?

8. Read Hebrews 11:23-29. How does this passage connect faith with resistance, risk and action? What does it suggest about faith that refuses to remain passive?

9. Where do you see people today practicing "underground faith," quietly resisting injustice, protecting others and following conscience despite risk? What might that kind of faith look like in your own context?

10. How might your group pray for you as you seek courage, discernment and trust in God's guidance when the path forward feels uncertain or costly?
