Title: Freedom and Opportunity (Richard Allen)

Text: Galatians 5:1,13-15

1. When you hear the word freedom, what's the first image, feeling or example that comes to your mind?

2. Name someone, past or present, whom you associate with courage, dignity or standing firm in the face of injustice? What have you learned from that person?

3. What stood out to you in the message titled "Read that Again: Freedom and Opportunity?" Does anything about Richard Allen now inform how you read the Galatians passage or understand freedom?

4. Read Galatians 5:1, 13-15. What words or phrases catch your attention as the apostle Paul talks about freedom and responsibility?

5. Paul insists that freedom is not for self-indulgence but for loving service. How does that notion challenge common current ideas about freedom in this country? Where do you see loving service quietly pushing back against harmful interpretations of freedom?
